May and June 2008

I am so far behind that I am putting these photos in out of order so I can get on to putting photos on of the reunion.

We drive on the beach at least once a week to see what other people are doing.

Look at all the lines (ropes) the person uses to control the sail.

Someone is having a lesson in how to parasail.

"Hey boss--I'll bet you can't guess what happened when I forgot to set the brakes on the bus!" This is a parking area near the Lewis and Clark "Fort-to-Sea trail end.

This is the new (almost finished) library in Seaside.

Close-up of the clock tower on the library. I love my new Nikon P 80 super-zoom digital camera.

Foggy morning on Manion Drive.

One of the ubiquitous log trucks found on Oregon highways.

Tunnel on Hwy 26 on the way to Portland. Yes, another trip to a doctor,.

Under the Ross Island bridge over the Willamette river in Portland.

Ryder is helping do yardwork in the back yard.

Racer is having lunch outside while Ryder talks to his friend Justin.

Good food huh Racer?

We went to Lincoln City so De could work on my teeth.

We ate here in Lincoln City for our 48th anniversary.

Ocean view near Lincoln City.

April showers bring May flowers. May is the prettiest month flower-wise. We still get plenty of rain in May.

A herd of elk in the little valley behind our house.

Our house in Portland was behind this mortuary which is on Hawthorn Blvd.

Here is the house in Portland where we lived for four years. Michelle and Kay-Lynn were born while we lived here. It had the prettiest leaded glass windows.

I was baptized in this church in 1959 in the Portland First ward. We resided in the !2th ward when we lived here from 1969 to 1973. DeWayne was 1st counselor to Bishop Ron Allen then.

A side view of the same church.

These are the Apartments we lived in from 1962 to 1965. Brett was born while we lived here. The apartments were painted blue then.

The Astoria market is open! The famous restored Liberty theater is on the left.

The market is so much fun and so crowded if a cruise ship is here.

Rhiannon, Ryder, Tiffany and Racer at the Astoria market on Mother's Day.

De is bringing my wheelchair around to load.

Beautiful rhododendrons were every where in May.

Wish I knew the name of this blue flowered tree.

More beautiful Rhododendrons by the mailbox.

The bushes by the kitchen window.

Oregon is many shades of green in the spring.

This is my aunt Helen and uncle Elmer's house in Seaside on the Neacanicum River. I lived here and worked from here the summer of 1958. I worked in the White Spot cafe on Broadway during the day and in a laundry folding HOT sheets as they came of the mangle.

More flowers.

And more rhododendrons.

Scotch broom is everywhere.

Up close.

And on Pine Ridge Rd, by the blackberries.

And flowering trees in Seaside. My next posting should be of the reunion.

How pretty...I love flowers and landscape, you're a good photographer mom. It was really neat to see our old house in Portland, I have many wonderful memories of that house. The laundry shoot was cool and the shelves that held all the canned fruit and jams, and the swinging door to the dining room...one time you hid behind there reading a book...we were looking for you everywhere, we were being loud and obnoxious and then I remember spying you through the crack...so funny. I remember the cemetary too, there was a big supermarket on the other side of the street too wasn't there? The church building is so beautiful, is that the one we went too? Can't wait to see your pics of the reunion...it was way too short for us, lots of driving, not enough time to visit.

Yeah! I have been checking your blog every day to see if you had added anything! I love all your nature photos and I think that it is perfectly alright to add things to your blog in what ever order is easiest because if it overwhelmes you, you aren't going to do it. Love you, Jenn

Beautiful pictures of the flowers all around. I love your comments about all the places that you have lived and which kids were born there. You have a great memory for dates, and people's names. I'm glad that you are getting caught up on your blog. We don't care if it is out of order. Miss you already. It's boring here in Reno. I spend all my time with the girls and Barry is job hunting. The truck is still not running...the part won't go in and Tony is trying to help him get it to work. I'll keep you posted with any good news. Love you.

Hi Grandma,
Thank you for Regen's borthday money. I think she is going to get a shopping cart or a baby doll and accessories with her money. We will take pictures with her gift. I had a fun time visiting you. I wish we had more time so we could of hung out with you and relaxed. It was nice to get a break from working full time and being alone in my apartment. Can't wait for next summer, this time Graham will be there.

love you
