We had dinner at home (taco salads) and chocolate cake for DeWayne's birthday after he got home from Lincoln City. Here he is--acting goofy when Tiffany tried to take his picture. He is now 68. He was born on Nov. 8, 1939 in St. George, Utah.
Hope Dad had a very Happy Birthday. I sent him a card. Hope he got it in time. I also called him but it went to voice mail. I love the pictures of Dad. He is always being goofy.

Traveling
We retired and moved to Oregon in 2005. I love it here but miss my kids and grandkids and big family gatherings so much. Our only trip since we moved has been to Las Vegas in June 2007. DeWayne had to start practicing dentistry again so our travel will be limited to weekends and, hopefully, a once a year two week vacation until the kids pay us back what they owe us or he earns enough money to get us out of debt.
DeWayne's final station was Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada. During the 25 years we lived in Las Vegas my vacations were limited to where I could drive, I made several trips with the kids to Arizona, California, Oregon and Utah to visit family. I did fly to Colorado to visit Debbie, and also to Alaska twice to visit her after they were stationed there.
We were stationed in Germany from 1977-1981. While there we took family vacations to Bertchesgaden, Chiemsee, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and Austria. DeWayne and I chaperoned a temple trip to Switzerland. We went on another temple trip to England by bus. When Mom came to visit she, Debbie, Brett and I went to Paris on a recreation center bus. Then Mom and I went to the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Finland with Eurailpasses. We travelled for six great weeks! I flew to Colorado when Aubrey was born and then on to Oregon to see the rest of my family. One of our more exciting adventures was taking the troop train to Berlin, visiting Checkpoint Charlie and the Berlin Wall and going into East Berlin before the Wall came down. Another was going to England on a troop airplane, sitting in web seats and putting wax plugs in our ears to block the noise!
We were stationed on the Greek island of Crete from 1975 to 1977. While there I travelled to Germany on the Med Evac plane with Debbie, to Athens, Istanbul, and Izmir with DeWayne and Brett, and on a cruise with DeWayne to Rhodes, Patmos, Cyprus, Egypt, Israel, Ephesus, Athens, Corfu and Ancona, Italy. Then DeWayne and I took the train and toured Rome before we flew back to Athens. DeWayne and I also visited Paris on another trip. On the way to Germany we stopped and toured Athens with the whole family.
When DeWayne went back into the Air Force we were stationed in New Mexico for 2 years (1973-1975). While there we went to Hawaii to see old friends and places we lovedand remembered from when we lived there. We took a family vacation to Ft. Bliss, Texas and to the Carlsbad Caverns.
DeWayne was in private practice in Portland, Oregon from 1969-1973). Our trips were to visit family in Oregon and Washington. I was so glad to go back into the Air Force and have the excitement of travel to look forward to.
When DeWayne graduated from Dental School we were stationed in Hawaii for 3 years (1965-1968). We were able to take vacations to the Big Island and also to Kauaii.
When DeWayne was in Dental School (1961-1965) we went to Victoria, B.C. in Canada with Barbara and Amos Herget. We also travelled to Arizona to visit DeWayne's sister and down into Mexico.
When I transferred to B.Y.U. (1959-1961) I added Idaho and Utah to my list of states.
Before I was 19 my travels were restricted to Oregon, Washington and California (I was at the U. of Oregon from 1956-1958 and at Portland State U. from 1958-1959).
