Our Roof

Look! The blue tarp is gone. The roofers came yesterday and took down the blue tarp, pulled off all the composition shingles and laid down new tar paper. Boy was it ever noisy with them hammering and tromping around over my head. Today they are supposed to come put new shingles back on. The new shingles are in those big packages on the roof. Dad is having them do just this side of the roof since we don't have enough money to do the whole roof. Hope the old half doesn't leak when the rains come!

How much does a project like that cost? I hope we don't have to do too many repairs when we are ready to sell. Right now we're doing some upgrades in the kitchen. We're having granite countertops installed Friday and bought some new appliances. We have to paint the exterior of our home says the HOA, so that's what we're doing the week of Thanksgiving. Ugh!!!

This is less than half the roof that we are replacing and it is about $3500. The whole roof would be $10,000 which is what the insurance company gave us, but dad spent it on other stuff. The roof guy wanted cash and wouldn't take the rest in monthly payments which is why we had to just do a portion of it. I don't know how much more it would be if it were in red Spanish tiles. What is your roof made of? What is the HOA and why can they tell you what to do? I want new stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops too. What color are you getting? Do you already have stainless appliances? The kids have cracked the tiles on the floor by dropping cans and things, so I want to replace the tile in the kitchen, entry, and hallway with the Pergo to match the dining and living room floor. Then I would keep the tile in the bathrooms and laundry room. Of course the only way I would get it is to spend my inheritance or for dad to keep working.

The roof looks great with the blue tarp gone now. Keep your fingers crossed that you won't have any more leaky roof.
