A Summer-like Day at the Beach

Fun things to do in the Fall at the Beach

We decided to drive home along the beach on Saturday after I got a perm in Seaside. We drove from the Del Rey entrance to the Sunset Beach entrance--about 3-5 miles. We saw these boys boogie bording and falling in. The water could not have been warm. It was November 10th and sunny and gorgeous, but the temperature was 54 degrees. Still, it was definitely shirt-sleeve weather.

This is what the entrance to the foot path to our house in Surf Pines looks like from the beach.

We saw what appeared to be a dead seal on the beach (or is it a sea lion). It had two signs posted by it.

When we pulled up and stopped the car, it lifted up it's head and looked at me! It responded to my voice when I talked to it.

Poor thing. The signs said do not disturb this ill marine mammal. It had beached itself during high tide.

It made me feel really sad to see it lying there with no food or water. It would be 12 hours between high tides. Maybe it swam out when the tide came in.

A seagull and what I believe are Snowy Plovers, a threatened species found in a few areas along the Northern Pacific coast. They are so cute. Their little legs move so fast they look like they are gliding along.

Just wading and playing in the waves.

Para-sail used with a sand rail.

This is what the cart looks like. He holds a short pole which has the lines to the sail attached to it. It goes so fast I had trouble getting the cart and the sail in one picture.

I think he is behind the closest car. Now you've seen what people do here on the beach on a nice autumn day.

Great pictures of the beach and of the ocean. It's sad when animals get sick and beach themselves. Maybe it will go back out to sea. What are you guys doing for Racer's and Tiffy's birthdays? I forgot to send a card in time for Racer's b-day. Will he be 3 this year? I will get Tiffy's card out tomorrow.
