Tree Climbers

Rhiannon has one and a half days off from school for teacher conferences. Today Josh (Tiffany's lifeguard friend) came home with Tiffany and brought his tree climbing equipment. It was part of the training he went through with the Job Corps. He threw a line over the branch of a tall pine tree and got into this harness contraption and hauled himself up. Of course the kids wanted to try it. Racer was a little daredevil--no fear. He reminds me of Daniel, Erica's youngest. Rhiannon loved it and didn't want to come down. Ryder was a little hesitant and would only go half way up, but then proceeded to climb two other trees without any gear. He wanted to be in control of the situation.

Josh is all decked out in his gear ready to ascend the tree.

Just hanging out part-way up the tree.

Josh said this tree was small compared to some they had them climb. He is up about 20-30 feet.

Rhiannon is getting into the harness.

Rhiannon is loving it!

Ryder's turn

Ryder likes to climb on his own and then says "Look at me!"

Racer is getting buckled in.

Racer is checking out the distance to the ground. He is up pretty far. I took this with the telephoto lens so it is hard to tell just how high he really is.

Then they all went to their classes--Ryder went to tumbling, Tiffany went to the conference with Rhiannon's teacher, and Rhiannon went to dance. Then they all went to see the latest Harry Potter movie at the discount theater.

DeWayne came home this evening and wasn't too thrilled with sleeping in the basement at the dental clinic. He said he was afraid That mice and spiders might crawl on him during the night! Tomorrow we (DeWayne, Rhiannon and me) are going shopping at Fred Meyer's for food and junk, and on Saturday he is taking his sister, Deanna, to lunch to celebrate her 70th birthday which was on October 9th. They will probably go to Mo's in Cannon Beach which is famous for it's clam chowder in bread bowls.

What an adventure those kids had! Josh sounds like a nice guy, are they just friends or more now? What is he like, what does he do? Your pictures were really cool, I love being able to see what's happening with everyone right away and the money that is saved from printing and mailing pictures is unbelievable, not to mention stamps!

I think blogs are great. I hardly ever got photos from anyone and felt really out of touch before blogs! Josh was Tiffany's boyfriend for awhile, but he is only 19. Her current boyfriend is Tom who drives a cab and makes fishing poles to sell at craft fairs and Saturday markets. I asked Rhiannon which one she like the best and she said Josh. Last week she said "I wish Josh was ten years older". Josh said "Age doesn't matter", so I got the impression that he wished they were serious. They are still really good friends. He is so good with the kids. I haven't met Tom.
